so i'm totally stoked to say that community groups at my home church have finally begun! The pic is of the two women who lead the group. is so incredibly refreshing to meet with my little family of intercessors every week-- male and female, old and young, single and married, kids and no kids and from different ethnicities. It's a beautiful blend of amazing people whose love spurs me on! Many of you know how significant this group has been, but in case you don't I will just say this...I have never before been part of a group of people with whom I resonate so deeply in prayer. When we meet together we meet Christ together---and this is truly CHURCH! The past two weeks we've met we've already had some sweet times together. First we prayed for an event at Reed College, known nationally as the most godless campus in America. The couple whose home we meet in have worked there for about 7 years as part of Intervarsity, laboring faithfully with little fruit. So we pray for Reed at different times of the year and for their ministry there in barren land. Last week we prayed for the issue of modern-day slavery, or what is often referred to as "trafficking," focusing both on the issue globally but also as it is present in Portland. A little over a week ago a new film called Call + Response opened and I was able to go see it last week. Check out the link. It is a very creative film that utilizes music to communicate the current problem and to call people to response. Cornel West has a great quote in the film: "Justice is what love looks like in public." Aw yeah, i think Jesus just might agree!!

What a great picture! Oh how we need present day prayer warriors. Another commodity that is needed on earth, now, and yet is very heavenly!
